Vintage Jewelry

Rose Gold is a very popular choice with jewelry these days. Part of the appeal is due to the unique and interesting color and part is due to the price of pure gold. Pure gold has been rising in price steadily making it over-inflated as well as out of reach for the average person to buy. In 2007 one ounce of gold was a little over 600 Dollars and in 2011 that same ounce is 1590 Dollars. The crazy thing about is that from 1992 to 2002 the price held quite steady at around 400 dollars for that same ounce. It is no wonder that other metals and less pure gold mixes have become more popular over time.

While gold can be mixed with so many different elements creating different colors it is the rose or red gold that is the most popular. These colors are achieved by mixing gold with copper, the more copper the redder the color. 75 percent gold mixed with 25 percent copper is the minimal amount needed to create a pale pink gold. The majority of the rose gold used today and sold worldwide though is a mix of 50% gold and 50% copper.

These watches are timeless and can range from being casual and fun to refined and dressy. There have been a fair amount of these watches around for the past decade but it really was not until Spring 2011 that these watches really started taking off and their popularity soared. Designers like Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors have led the way with these watches. You can find stainless accented with rose gold, ceramic and rose gold, as well as solid rose gold watches among other stylings of these watches
